Ingredients

  • 2 medium oranges, peeled
  • 3 packets (about 3 tablespoons) gelatin
  • 2 tbsp sugar, to taste

Instructions

  • Cut the peeled oranges in half to remove any seeds.
  • Using a blender, blend the oranges into a juice.
  • Pour the orange juice into a pot or sauce pan and warm over medium low heat. Do not boil.
  • Add the gelatin and sugar to the orange juice and stir to dissolve. Once dissolved, taste for sweetness and add more sugar if desired.
  • Pour the mixture into candy molds or in a flat bottomed dish. Chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes until firm.
  • After the gummies are fully cooled and firm to the touch, remove from the candy molds or dish. If using a dish, slice into cubes or any shape desired.

Notes

For this recipe, I blended the whole peeled oranges, including the part that separates each segment.  I found that juicing the oranges by hand didn't yield much juice and wasn't worth the effort.  Using the whole orange is probably also more nutritious.
